What about using artificial materials on the worship structure to save money?
Use of natural materials is important in worship spaces. We worship God as Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier. God is unbelievable as the Redeemer if He is not accepted as Creator. Our first order is to praise Him as the Creator of the universe, then as the Redeemer of humankind. Our buildings should exalt His creation.
Honesty is imposed on God’s people. The construction of church buildings should use natural materials and astutely display structural principles. Cosmetic deception should be avoided. The natural qualities of building materials, explicit and apparent, serve well as structural elements in both the building and its furnishings. Concrete should retain its appearance. Plants should be real, not plastic or painted paper. Electric candles should never be used. Surfaces should authenticate wood, stone, brick, and steel. Artificial building materials might jeopardize our sincerity. A place for worship should be natural and genuine like the landscape God has given us.
